Anyone for a mass Avatar viewing?
It does disturb me that this movie has action figures at Burger King. |

Pry Friday. If nothing else, I think it'll look cool.
Just watched 2012 and it left a gross aftertaste.
The Road was really good if anyone gets a chance to see it. |

2012 was definitely a parody of a disaster movie.
Almost a parody of a parody.
How meta.

is avatar the sequel to titanic? hehe.
Actually, I kind of want to see it in 3d imax. it looks kind of trippy - the effects anyway. I have no idea what the story is actually about. _________________

| I'd love to see The Road. Where did you go see that? We've had a hard time finding it. |

I think the humans are trying to destroy the blue elvish females, but then a human falls in love with one. I have no idea, I've seen the commercial once.
As long as theres a celine dion song in it, I'll be happy.
I would like to see it at 3d imax, but I'm not sure if I want to pay $15 to watch a movie. It seems arizonians are extremely annoying at movie theaters. _________________

We saw it in Rochester? Or something like that. I think there are only a few places in MI showing it so far. It really captured the book well.

Rochester is close enough; we saw it in Detroit. (Royal Oak)
They didn't include the one line from the book that I thought was the entire point of the book, but it was still really great. If you like that sort of thing. Which I do.
Why the hatin on Avatar? Has anyone seen it yet? Star Wars has more merch than anything short of Kiss, and people still respect those movies. At least they did before 1999. I don't know about more recently.
It's from the maker of Terminator and Abyss! (Also Alien$ and Titanic) It at least has a chance to be pretty great, even though Teresa says it looks like Battle for Terra. I've so far avoided watching previews by closing my eyes plugging my ears and making childish noises every time a commercial comes on. Not joking. |

what's the line in the book that's omitted in the movie, nate? it's been a while since i read it. refresh my memory. (if it doesn't spoil the movie for others.)

Son: "You said you wouldn't ever leave me."
Father: "I know. I’m sorry. You have my whole heart. You always did. You’re the best guy. You always were. If I’m not here you can still talk to me. You can talk to me and I’ll talk to you. You’ll see."
It sums up the 'good guys' motif, the father/son relationship theme, and reminds the reader of all of the instances where the boy was the exemplar of compassion and 'humanity' even though he grew up in an environment devoid of either. It made me tear up a 'lil just copy/pasting it.
I think in the movie they included the "whole heart" part and maybe even the "talk to me" part, but for some reason skipped over my fav line.
I'm sure it wasn't intended to be as critical a quote as I made it out to be, it's just the line of the book that stuck with me the most. It's pretty trite out of the context of the rest of the book, really.
Maybe there'll be a directors cut. 'Cause without that it almost seems like an hour and a half of Christmas eve, then you wake up and it's New Years.
edit:
Looks like the line is kindasorta in the screenplay, but not exactly.
