Lolo: I never even had the internet until I was 18 (wow, what did I do before that!?). I can confirm though, that I did start downloading almost immediately after that. I also think Napster had a part in my flunking out of msu as well. (Why go to class when I can spend all that valuable time downloading albums I'll never listen too)
Also, another note, if you move the mp3s you download from the directory you downloaded them in, or change their names or anything, you'll stop uploading them to the other people. So try to stay organized from the beginning.
anything digital should be free in my book. Seriously, the best idea for record companies to make money would be to have ISP's charge downloaders $50-$100 a year and users have unlimited media sharing. I'd pay it. It's pretty evident that album sales is not the future of music. Or, sell tshirts.
Speaking of which, we need some more fuzz/uzz tshirts. I've been breaking out my tit pink "the fuzz for president" tshirt a lot lately.
Edit to add for LOLO: If you want to expand your horizons and download movies, check out http://www.scenereleases.info/ - great site with all the info on whats being released on the net...well a portion of it anyway.
video wise, I wouldn't recommend downloading cam's, telesync's, or vhs screeners. I will download dvdrips, dvdscr (dvd screeners), and R5's (russian dvd's with stereo audio)...these should all play in http://www.videolan.org/ on your lappy. I'd also stay away from bluray rips, they're usually around 9gb's and unless you're watching them on an hd tv, it's kind of a waste if you ask when you can get the same file for 1gb.
Also, http://thepiratebay.org/ is another torrent site, free for anyone to use. I would never upload anything on here as its a public site, and I never leave my torrents open. Also, virus scan everything you get from there and only use it when you need to. _________________

i agree ed, digital music should be free. it's definitely too far gone with torrent sites for record companies to expect to make money from album sales nowadays. there's no turning back. it's not like bands ever made any money from them either. i'll pay for a handful of albums if i really like them, but other than that, if i can find them online elsewhere, fine. i bet your idea of charging per year for unlimited media downloading is not too far off.
speaking of tit pink fuzz shirts, brandon's is so worn out, there's practically no purple lettering on it anymore. it's barely legible, which makes it looks very hipster/vintage. or white trash. can't tell.

so, heres a torrent-site question.....
What if I want an album, and it isn't on there!?
Do I want and keep checking for it? Can I request it somehow?
You know what album I really want, and have wanted for two years?
Heart - Greatest Hits. Yep. Heart is so fucking awesome.
I also want the new Watson Twins album.
And STMusic doesn't have either. |

yeah, you might be able to request, but you might get yelled at if you don't have a good ratio yet. I'm not sure how that works.
I see heart on usenet, but its flac's and its 80 days old, I'll see if I can still get it.
I also see The watson twins - fire songs (i'm guessing thats the new one)...i'll try to grab it too and see what happens.
I've got about 20gigs in my queue, so I should find out tomorrow if I got them or not. _________________

i don't know if this has already been mentioned, but the album by the last shadow puppets is fantastic! it's the side project of alex turner from arctic monkeys and well worth repeated listenings.

From Wiki:
| Quote: | Here, It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did is a mini-album[1] by Scottish indie rock band The Twilight Sad, released June 9, 2008.
At an acoustic performance promoting the record, singer James Graham noted that the band could have released another single from Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters but ultimately decided to release a fresh batch of recordings instead.
The record includes four alternative versions of tracks taken from their debut album, Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters, and two new songs: a cover of Daniel Johnston’s "Some Things Last a Long Time" and the title track, "Here It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did", a song written for their first album but never used.[2]
Concerning the re-recording of older material, guitarist Andy MacFarlane explained:
‘We wanted to record reworked versions of some songs, as we felt there was another side to some of them that worked just as well as the originals. The idea came about from playing certain gigs or sessions with a more basic line-up of just fan organ, glockenspiel and percussion. We developed that sound in the recordings by plugging the fan organ through effects, adding guitars, drones, violins and experimenting with the alternate sound”.[2]
Former Aereogramme guitarist, Iain Cook engineers, mixes and masters the record, while former Aereogramme bassist, Campbell McNeil, plays on the opening track, "And She Would Darken the Memory". Also, prior to the EP's release, former Aereogramme contributer, Dok, joined the band during live performances, playing various instruments.[3]
Laura McFarlane, from My Latest Novel, plays violin on three tracks. |

I've only listened to the first 3 tracks of the new Fujiya & Miyagi album, but its pretty fuggin awesome so far.
New Tricky = meh, I've heard worse, but its still not maxinquaye
New Mogwai ain't bad
and I'm indifferent on the new Verve album. I think if it was 1997, I'd be quite impressed with it, but a lot has changed in the world of music since then.
the leaked gnr tracks for chinese democracy are crap
one day as a lion...not bad, but there were a couple of times when it sounded like korn.
and if you haven't listened to yeasayer yet, they are unfugginbelievably awesome. _________________
